I’m constantly trying to think of ways to get the twitter crowd (and then non-twitterers as well) involved with Spare Change, Please. Well, here’s my latest idea: Happy Birthday Wish Donations!
Know someone with a Birthday coming up, or perhaps your own birthday? How about turning that important event into something vastly more important? How? By simply donating $1, $10 or whatever feels like a good amount to Spare Change, Please? Your ‘Birthday Bucks Donation’ will make a considerable difference to some poor soul living on the streets. It will mean that the organizations that Spare Change has ‘vetted’ are getting your donation and will put it to good work against the Scourge of Homelessness.
So, spread some birthday joy back… give to the needy, won’t you?
Oh, and when you do, we will send a twitter notification out to all our members (and any that you ask to be notified, such as the @birthdayboy) that their Birthday has made life a little bit better for the downtrodden.
Pretty cool, huh?

Well, at least many of them do. The title of this blog comes from my ‘light bulb over the head’ idea to approach members of the porn community (via twitter primarily) to find, to put it poetically, ‘The Loving Heart of a Whore’.
Porn stars often come from less than great surroundings, so they ‘get it’ about homelessness (so, my reasoning goes). They’ve ‘been there, done that’ to some degree. And now that a measure of success has come their way, they are open to ‘giving back’ to the streets, so to speak. To help the homeless is simply something that is intrinisic to their past lives.
Now, I’m not trying to “get money out of them”, per se. (Although it would be great and very appreciated should they decide to make a donation, even if it’s not that much - every little bit of ‘spare change’ adds up!) No, it’s their contacts and their ‘star power’ to be my “Bono’s”, the dream being that they (collectively!) mention Spare Change, Please whenever the opportunity occurs. Simply pointing their Fan Legions to our Humble Little Site and getting their fans motivated to donate… well that’s, to use the phrase, is priceless!
So, if you’re in the porn industry and have discovered Spare Change… I beg of you… tell your fans about it… send them here (sparechangepls.tumblr.com). Another important means of their help will be to recruit them to mention @sparechangepls on their twitter. That’s all … just drop a line now and then about how you support our efforts and are proud to recommend us!

We are dedicated to collecting donated money from the good people on the internet with the following purpose and guarantee:
We will donate AT LEAST 80% of all collected money each month to a Charity or Non-Profit Organization that is active in helping the poor, homeless or helping the urban environment. The selected organization will be announced each month and donations will accumulate for that month.
The remaining 20% goes for the usual Office Expenses, Advertising and Salaries.
Any amount you can spare (as a check or money order or paypal) will be gratefully accepted and put to work each month! More on that as we work out the specifics!
We will post photos of the Certified Checks as they are produced and any correspondence from the selected organization that they elect to send and allow to be published.
